Location: MACLEA

Description:
This course is offered as a 40-hour program for sworn law enforcement personnel and a 16-hour program for Fire/EMS personnel. It is structured using a crawl–walk–run training methodology designed to progressively build skills and confidence.
Instruction includes classroom presentations, single-officer up to four-officer building entries, medical response training, communications, and room-clearing and movement techniques, including T-intersections, L-intersections, and stairwells.
The course is designed to build student knowledge and capability throughout the week, culminating in the practical application of learned skills. Students progress through multiple training phases with significant one-on-one interaction with instructors to reinforce proper techniques and decision-making.
Fire/EMS personnel will attend the final two days of training, during which law enforcement and Fire/EMS students train together in an integrated response to active shooter incidents. All participants will complete instructor-assisted scenarios, followed by realistic, stress-based scenarios using UTM training munitions and role players.
Students must demonstrate proficiency during scenario-based evaluations to successfully complete the course. Upon completion, participants will be prepared to respond effectively and confidently to an active shooter situation.
